Jenna: Lead Teacher
Jenna is a Forrest Yoga Teacher. She was born in Melbourne, FL and is a world traveler and student. She has the honor to study with teachers from all over the world including Bikram Choudhury, Mark Whitwell, Shiva Rea, Sharon Gannon & David Life, John Friend, and her greatest inspiration Ana Forrest, amongst others. A Scorpio, a musician and an art lover among other things, she has found yoga to be the most profound influence and gift in her life. Jenna has been curiously exploringthe spirit of yoga for over 12 years. Through the healing powers and philosophy of looking for the good in all things, yoga has shifted Jenna’s life forever. It is her intention to bring this gift to the community and continue to make the wisdom of yoga accessible to all. She has also studied massage and bodywork in both Asia and the United States and incorporates this into her teachings and practice and is a licensed therapist.
Divya: History and Philosophy
Divya Elting first discovered yoga in Vancouver, B.C. After her first class, she had the desire to learn and share the power of yoga. Since that day, Divya has been motivated by the spiritual and physical possibilities of yoga. Her first training was with Bikram Choudhary in Los Angeles in 2001. Divya taught yoga in Hong Kong, where she was the managing teacher at Pure Yoga . She has trained with with Yin master, Paul Grilley, David Life and Sharon Gannon of Jivamukti, Anusara’s Desiree Rumbaugh, Shiva Rea and many other international teachers. While living in Hong Kong, she traveled to India to study traditional yoga where she met her Guru, Yogi Vishvketu (who gave her the spiritual name Divya), and became a member of The World Conscious Yoga Family. With an experience that spans the globe, Divya excels in teaching diverse styles including: Hatha, Hot fow Yoga, Yin, Pre-natal, as well as Pranayama, Meditation, Satkarma, History and philosophy.
Divya hosts transformational retreats and workshops in Pensacola, FL, and leads 200 hour teacher training programs for The World Yoga Family in Rishikesh, India, and in Pensacola.
She is highly regarded for her unwavering spirit in her own yoga practice and for the gentle eloquence she uses in encouraging self-reflection, physical, and spiritual growth in her students.
Pete: Anatomy and Physiology
Pete is a licensed massage therapist in Florida and an approved provider for both the state of Florida and NCBTMB. He is the former Assistant Director at the Florida School of Massage in Gainesville. He teaches “Myofascial Components of Pain” workshops throughout the Southeast, as well as Florida law and business building classes. His training as an EMT, a CPR instructor, and 35+ years of teaching experience have given him many insights into the learning process. Pete incorporates visual, kinesthetic, and auditory learning aides to provide students with a well-rounded class. Students receive individual attention and everyone is encouraged to HAVE FUN!”
Pete has been active in the professional associations and completed a four-year term on the Florida Board of Massage Therapy, serving two years as Chairman. He received the Charles Canfield Award from the FSMTA in 2004 for Service to the Profession. He is a frequent presenter at state and national massage therapy and chiropractic conventions. Pete has had a career long fascination with fascia and fascia research. He is a member of the Education Committee for both the Massage Therapy Foundation and the American Massage Therapy Foundation. Pete attended the First International Fascia Congress at Harvard Medical School and will be attending the Second Congress in Amsterdam in October 2009. He is teaching Research Literacy for Educators at the 2009 AMTA National Convention and is part of a teaching team that is available to help teachers update their lesson plans to include research findings applicable for massage therapy students. Pete currently resides in Fort Pierce, Florida with his wife (and editor) Lee and their wiener dog Oscar.
He teaches the "Functional Anatomy for Yoga Teachers" segment of our amazing foundational 200 hour training. We are so lucky to have him on our team.
Parthena: Ayurveda, the sister science of Yoga
Parthena is a NAMA recognized Ayurvedic practitioner, registered yoga teacher, longtime educator and has been interested in health and well-being ever since she can remember. She has studied with some of the most profound lineage holders in both the yoga and the Ayurveda worlds. Among her primary yogic influences are Annie Pace, Tim Feldmann, Kino MacGregor and Kevin Kimple—all authorized to teach the traditional Ashtanga yoga passed down to them directly from the late Sr. K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India. In the study of Ayurveda, she has had direct teachings from Dr. Vasant Lad, Dr. Robert Svoboda, Dr. Claudia Welch, Maya Tiwari among many others, and completed her third level of Ayurvedic training at The California College of Ayurveda in Nevada City, California. Over the past 35 years, she has received certifications in a number of healing modalities, but has maintained an interest in the healing energetics of herbs and foods.
Parthena travels, lectures, and sees clients who want to understand how they can become directly and more consciously involved in finding a level of health that helps to them to live their very best life.
